Opening Reception: Saturday, November 7th, 5-8pm October 31 - December 23, 2015 |
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |

George Billis Gallery is pleased to present the
gallery’s third exhibition of Tim Yankosky’s vintage
tape measure pieces. The exhibition features
new sculptural wall pieces in a several new
surface configurations and shapes. The exhibition
continues through December 23rd.
Yankosky’s writes of his found object wall pieces,
“materials are often the driving force and
inspiration behind the works of art that I create. I
have always been drawn to the functional wear
and patina of vintage and found objects. Recently,
vintage measuring tapes and their cases have
captured my attention and I enjoy the challenge of repurposing these old objects for a journey in which they were never intended for. I create a new environment for these objects to "live on" in a new form of being, by way of contemporary works of art. I hopefully impart to them longevity, by featuring them in this unsuspected new function.”
Yankosky received his degree from San Francisco State University and has exhibited
throughout the United States. He was the recipient of the Peoples’ Choice Award at Tails of the
City 2.0, Creative Visionaries Celebrate the Microsoft Mouse as Art in San Francisco, CA, the
Metal Arts Scholarship Award at the Stillwell Fall 2000 Show, San Francisco, CA, the
Outstanding Achievement Metal Arts Stillwell Spring 2000 Show 2000, San Francisco, CA, the
First Place Mixed Media/Sculpture Award National Annual Small Works Competition & Exhibition
at Left Bank Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT, and was a finalist for a San Francisco Art Council
Grant.
