POINTS OF VIEW
“Points Of View” bring together the art of six artists whose individual works weave the elements of process, materials, craft, observation, and imagination to yield six unique visions.
The refinement, humor and inventiveness of Mary Bailey’s sculpture change things we think we know into stunning works of originality and expand our relationship to them. .
There is the sense of solace and inspiration in the places Alanna Fagan inhabits like a time traveler to create works of endless contemplation. Her ability to balance color and light and to describe the physicality of place make the point of view her own.
The remarkable and mysterious playfulness of Niki Ketchman’s art is testimony to how art can take us on a journey when we let it. Her transformation of familiar materials and ideas into works of inventive and communicative imagery is exciting and complex.
Nancy McTague-Stock‘s art make you wonder how she does it as she probes and expands the possibilities in etching technique with her unique “solar etchings” to create enigmatic and elegant works on paper.
Missy Savard’s paintings create a sense of déjà vu and serenity because they evoke places you may remember, or imagine having being there, urging you to return.
In her color and black-and-white works on paper lines function both as surface and three-dimensionality Alex Sax brings the viewer close-up to see beyond the exterior beauty and reality of nature and thereby remind us of its fragility.
These six artists have taken me on a journey farther than I ever expected when George Billis invited me to curate this exhibition. There is more here than meets the eye.
