Artist Statement

Light, and light’s ability to transcend the physical world has been my particular passion as a painter. Still life subjects enable me to focus on pure light and color relationships. Colors are affected by the type and quality of light, and I look past boundaries of objects to see if I can find larger connections between color and space. I use large brushes to construct my paintings, and when seen up close the strokes become the two dimensional movements that support the three dimensional illusion.
