BARBARA STRASEN
July 20th - August 31st, 2013 Artist Reception: Saturday, July 20th, 5 - 8pm |
George Billis Gallery is pleased to present a series of new lenticular prints by Barbara Strasen exhibited at the gallery in conjunction with the opening of her large scale installation at LAX.
Artist Barbara Strasen has been commissioned by Los Angeles Public Art Division and Los Angeles World Airports to create a very large lenticular installation to occupy both floors of Terminal 2 of LAX. The installation, titled Flow and Glimpse, is being launched as part of Influx: Art at LAX, a celebration of transforming LAX's public spaces into art spaces. This installation at the airport will be on view for two years.
The artist created the new series of editioned lenticular prints on view at George Billis Gallery as companion pieces to the LAX installation. Using the same source imagery as the series at LAX, Strasen juxtaposes different images of Los Angeles - from neon signs to iconic LA architecture to bronzed bodies and sunglasses and palm trees.
