Randall W. L. Mooers: Recent Paintings
January 7 - February 11, 2012
Artist Reception Saturday, January 7th, 5 - 8pm

George Billis Gallery is pleased to present the gallery's first solo exhibition of paintings by Randall Mooers. The exhibition features the artist's recent work and continues through February 11th.

Randall W.L. Mooers' intimately-sized still life paintings depict found objects chosen for their spatial and textural qualities. Mooers selects, places, and paints his subjects with a focus on light. States the artist, "On the surface my paintings arise from a strong attraction to the natural light of my north facing windows and the forms that I place in its path (like the traditional painters of the past I only work from life (no photography or sketches)). I am drawn to the shapes and surface textures of some forms and the reflective qualities of others." Mooers describes his paintings as "humble in scale, complex in their simplicity, and unambiguous in their content."

Randall W.L. Mooers has studied at the Art Students League and The National Academy. He has been the recipient of the O. Alden James Award and The John Young-Hunter Memorial Award. This is his first solo exhibition at the George Billis Gallery.
