| ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
|
his work is based on a trip across country I did over the summer for a television project called Art Race. The idea was to see if I could cross the country surviving only on art. I started on the steps of the Met with no money, but with art supplies, and had to trade for food, lodging and transportation from New York to Los Angeles. It was a test to see what art was worth across the country. Adding to the project was the ‘Race’ aspectanother artist was crossing the opposite direction, trying to trade for more.
These paintings are images I saw along the way. Small towns. Larger cities. Guest rooms stayed in. Run down motels. Main Streets. Amish country. Western deserts. Rural and urban.
