y abstract paintings and monotypes are based on things I have seen, heard, smelled or felt, often while traveling. The colors, shapes, mood and composition of my work are extracted from sensory experience, translated into feelings, and recreated from emotional memory, with painterly discipline and technique, months or sometimes years later. My work represents the tangible world, interpreted by my subconscious, rather than pure idea or emotion. In this sense I am a painter of inner landscapes that parallel the outer world, which I want the viewer to feel as well as see.
